WUFT-FM Morning Edition host Glenn Richards’ spoke with award winning journalist, Lulu Garcia-Navarro, the new host of NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday (Sundays from 8:00 to 10:00 AM on Florida's 89.1, WUFT-FM).
Lulu became host of Weekend Edition Sunday last month after being NPR's international correspondent in South America, based in Rio de Janeiro.
Ms. Garcia-Navarro has also been NPR's correspondent in Mexico and spent many years in the Middle East in Israel and Iraq. She was one of the first reporters to enter Libya after the 2011 Arab Spring began and spent months painting a vivid portrait of a country at war.
Her work earned her a 2011 George Foster Peabody Award, a Lowell Thomas Award from the Overseas Press Club, an Edward R. Murrow Award from the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, and the Alliance for Women and the Media's Gracie Award for Outstanding Individual Achievement.
