Florida voters made their picks Tuesday in the primary election.

Ward said the city uses Alachua County code that states a maximum of 10 dogs or cats for residents.

Groups of dogs have been demolishing cages and chicken coops, attacking livestock and harassing community members in Melrose and Keystone Heights. Despite residents' calls to animal services, very little has been done to address the issue in the rural neighborhoods.

County and City Commissioners are taking action against "irresponsible pet owners" after a string of "dangerous dog" attacks, perpetrated mostly by pit bulls. The attacks have resulted in euthanasia of injured animals and even the death of a 2-year-old boy.
