Donnie Craine, the University of Florida diving coach, died in a boating accident today.

The accident occurred this afternoon near Sanibel Island, according to a source close to the family.

Two boats collided at a bend in the Jug Creek Waterway, according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Five other people were involved in the crash and sustained minor injuries.

The cause of the crash is being investigated, but officials do not suspect that alcohol and drugs were involved.

Craine was entering his 30th season as the UF diving coach.
