A motorcyclist was killed in Ocala Saturday afternoon in a crash at the intersection of State Road 200 and Southwest 69th Court Road.

The male motorcyclist — who hadn't been identified by police as of Monday afternoon — was driving his 2003 Yamaha motorcycle at a high speed and was weaving among State Road 200's three traffic lanes, witnesses told the Florida Highway Patrol.

As the motorcycle approached the intersection with Southwest 69th Court Road, driver Sonyalea Sue Crammer, 82, of Ocala, was stopped at a stop sign in her 2005 Chevrolet Lumina, according to a Florida Highway Patrol news release. Once she drove into the intersection, the motorcycle collided with her car.

"He was driving fast, and we don't know why," Florida Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Patrick Riordan told WUFT News. "We're going to get to the bottom of that."

The collision caused both vehicles to rotate, and the Lumina erupted into flames, the release said.

The motorcyclist was declared dead at the scene, and because of the car fire, he has not been identified, it said.

Crammer was air-lifted to UF Shands Health hospital in Gainesville with non-life threatening injuries.

Charges haven't been filed against either driver because the investigation is ongoing and could take two to three months, Riordan said.

"It's a tragic event, and ... we aren't going to rush to any judgement," he said.
