SFC uses volunteers to search for kidnapping victim's phone and backpack

Santa Fe College Police today planned to lead student and community volunteers in canvassing the area where an 18-year-old Santa Fe College student was kidnapped on Thursday.   The volunteers were specifically looking for the victim's backpack and cell phone that were dropped in the parking lot of 300 NW 83rd Street, Lot 9 next to the victim's vehicle.

Meanwhile Alachua County Sheriff's detectives and SFC Police continue to follow leads in the Thursday evening abduction.  The suspect is a male with darker-skinned complexion of unknown race, possibly Middle Eastern.  He was wearing a dark hoodie and jeans.  He was described as having close-cut hair, an unshaven face and a tatoo on the back right hand.  He possibly stands 5 '8" to 5'11" and is believed to be in his late 20's to early 30's.

The victim told police the suspect initially approached her with a handgun in the school parking lot and forced her into his car and drove away.  She says she was able to jump out of the car and escape when the car slowed down.  She then went to a home looking for help and was found in the 12000 block of NW 39th Avenue.  Police officers found her vehicle near the SFC gymnasium.

Law enforcemnt personnell will be canfassing several apartment complexes in the area of SFC in an attempt to obtain information that residents may have.
