Levy County Sheriff's Deputies are warning residents to be wary of driveway paving scams

Sheriff’s deputies say con artists have been telling homeowners they have just enough asphalt left over from another job. The scammers are usually polite and persuasive, but also use pressure tactics and intimidation. After the work is complete, they demand a larger sum of money than was originally quoted. The scams usually target the elderly and people on a limited or fixed income, and the project quality is questionable. To help prevent becoming a victim of these scams, Levy County sheriff’s officials say residents should only give 10 to 15 percent of job cost upfront, and also never be pressured into making a decision.
