Hurricane Ian has left 1.9 million Florida residents without power, as of Friday morning. Although state officials will not be able to soon confirm the total number of injuries, deaths and displaced individuals, it is evident that the damage left behind is catastrophic.

Lee County
The residents of Lee County suffered the eye of the hurricane. Ian's center fell near the barrier island Cayo Costa, about 20 miles west of Fort Myers. Fort Myers has a population of more than 92,000 people. Eighty-five percent of the county is without power, DeSantis said.

The county doesn’t currently have running water due to a water main break and has asked FEMA for aid. FEMA has already arrived at the scene with the Army Corps of Engineers to assist. Restoring water to Lee County is a top priority for the state, DeSantis said.
