Volunteers raked leaves to help people living in an adult group home

Raking leaves became a love language on Friday for over a dozen volunteers from the University of Florida chapter of the National Student Speech Language and Hearing Association.

The College of Public Health students woke early to take on yard work at a group home for six intellectually disabled adults.

The Arc of Alachua County has 17 group homes embedded in neighborhoods all over Gainesville, and they've provided housing to about 160 adults with developmental disabilities.

The homes are staffed with at least two employees and a house manager.
