Alexa Carlin founded Hello Perfect, a blog devoted to redefining society's definition of perfection, with a friend in 2011. Carlin's positive outlook was tested during an emergency hospital stay when she was diagnosed with sepsis, a potentially life-threatening illness, according to Dr. Frederick A. Moore, a UF professor of surgery. While Carlin was in the ICU, her mother created a Facebook page called "Good Vibes For Alexa," which Carlin said helped save her life.
