The city of Gainesville is joining a nationwide project to raise awareness on the issues farmworkers face. Interfaith for Immigrant Justice Organizer Kim Hunter says farmworkers work under very dangerous conditions. Hunter hopes to educate residents on the importance of farmworkers in their community.

The city will officially acknowledge a Farmworker Awareness Week during their commission meeting tomorrow night. Events will take place during the last week of March.
