FANFARES & FIREWORKS 2020 – Canceled

Fanfares and Fireworks

Fanfares & Fareworks Returns in 2021 »

April 15, 2020 — Due to Florida’s “Stay-at-Home” order and the uncertainty of how long that will be in place, the July 3 Fanfares & Fireworks event is canceled.

Fanfares & Fireworks is organized by the UF College of Journalism and Communications’ WUFT-TV/FM and WRUF-AM/FM with sponsorship from the community including the City of Gainesville, VyStar Credit Union and others.

WUFT is exploring other Independence Day broadcast programming. More information on those plans will be announced as they are confirmed.

“Based on the current circumstances related to the COVID-19 virus and that planning for an event of this magnitude occurs months in advance, our team felt the prudent course was to cancel the event for 2020”, said Randy Wright, executive director of the College’s Division of Media Properties. “We deeply regret that we will not be able to offer this event to the Alachua County community this summer.”
