Hurricane Hermine Damage Still Evident In Cedar Key

Cedar Key is still recovering from damages caused by Hurricane Hermine, the Category 1 storm which made landfall almost six months ago. Businesses like the Beach Front Motel and The Island Room Restaurant are continuing to reconstruct the areas of their businesses that were brutally affected by Hermine in hopes to be finished before the year's end.

The Beach Front Motel, which had its entire first floor flooded by the hurricane, is finishing construction and planning to reopen relatively soon.

Gina Stefani, co-owner of The Island Room Restaurant, said repairs will start in March and will take about four months to complete. Stefani and her husband Peter, the other co-owner, said they hope the restaurant will be open and fully functional before July 4.

The motel and restaurant are only two of the many businesses that suffered damages from the hurricane. While there is still an immense amount of work to be done in the area, visitors continue to steadily flow through the coastal city.
