The Playground Music and Arts Festival returned to Gainesville on Saturday.
Headlined, hosted and founded by Flipturn, an indie rock band from Florida, the festival highlighted twelve different musical groups from across the United States — including The Housing Crisis and Quail Hollow, two local Gainesville groups. Coyboi, Early Eyes, Corey Kilgannon, Happy Landing, Easy Honey, Girlpuppy, The Brazen Youth, Trash Panda and Liz Cooper also performed throughout the day.
Heartwood Soundstage hosted the festival for the second time, following the first Playground back in 2022. The festival started at 1 p.m. and ended around 11, with each group playing between 30- and forty-five-minute sets. Flipturn, originally signed with Swamp Records at the University of Florida, created this festival — in conjunction with Indie Live — to come back and perform where the band first gained traction.
