Deputies say a student at a central Florida high school has been arrested for bringing an unloaded BB gun onto the campus.
Lake County Sheriff's Lt. John Herrell told local news outlets that a South Lake High School resource officer was told the 15-year-old boy displayed the weapon under his desk during a class.
Herrell says the officer made contact with the student and found the gun in his backpack. He says the gun wasn't loaded and the student didn't have any BBs with him.
Authorities say the student is part of the Reserve Officer Training Corps program at the school west of Orlando.
He is charged with possessing a gun on school property, which is a felony.
