A UF student organized a group of local photographers to take pictures of animals up for adoption at the Alachua County Humane Society after discovering that shelter animals with professional photos had increased rates of adoption.

Two people were arrested for armed robbery and assault in Gainesville after a car chase and manhunt on the University of Florida campus. The suspects are being charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and other additional pending charges.

The Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission met yesterday to review a proposal which would allow bear hunting on specific areas throughout Florida. Wildlife groups question if hunting is the solution to an increasing number of bear encounters.

The Gainesville Police Department arrested a 15-year-old male believed to be responsible for the six bomb threats made to local high schools on Friday. He could be charged with six counts of false report of planting a bomb or explosive if he is found guilty.

Putnam County residents will be able to vote on the renewal of the Better Place Plan on April 7. However, the wording of the renewal plan has some residents questioning the transparency of the commission and how the changes will affect the county.
