Debris from Hurricane Hermine has piled up for two weeks on some Gainesville neighborhoods' curbsides, and homeowners are contacting the city to complain.
Gainesville's Public Works Department is working with contractors to speed the clean-up of the limbs and leaves, and once picked-up the debris could serve as Fuelwood chips or Clean chips. Fuelwood chips can be burned for energy while Clean chips are used to make everyday products. For now, the Waste Transfer Station is piling up the larger tree pieces for mulch and the city said all the debris should be picked up by the end of the week.
