Asian Pacific Islander American Affairs

A six-panel, canvas mural created by eight student artists was unveiled today at the the University of Florida Asian Pacific Islander American Affairs office in Reitz Union.

The University of Florida's Multicultural and Diversity Affairs has selected Will Atkins, the current interim director, to stay on permanently as the MCDA's new executive director.

University of Florida student, Narayan Kulkarni, recently won Gio Peace's International Essay Contest. His essay, which shares his story on the treatment he received from peers after 9/11 due to his ethnicity, was chosen out of 8,943 essays from 148 countries. Kulkarni will receive his award in Japan this week.

UF organizations gathered and rallied support for the victims of the powerful Typhoon that hit the Philippines in November. Both the UF Asian Pacific Islander American Affairs and the UF Filipino Student Association gathered at a candlelight vigil to recognize and bring hope to the victims of the typhoon.
