University of Florida student, Narayan Kulkarni, recently won Gio Peace's International Essay Contest. His essay, which shares his story on the treatment he received from peers after 9/11 due to his ethnicity, was chosen out of 8,943 essays from 148 countries. Kulkarni will receive his award in Japan this week.

UF organizations gathered and rallied support for the victims of the powerful Typhoon that hit the Philippines in November. Both the UF Asian Pacific Islander American Affairs and the UF Filipino Student Association gathered at a candlelight vigil to recognize and bring hope to the victims of the typhoon.
