Marion County Commission Approves Equine Project

Marion County Commission unanimously approved a two-year project that involves major development focused around an equestrian center.

Local horse farm owners believe a new equestrian center in the Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Center will draw year-long business to Marion County from all over the world.

Roger Roberts, owner of Five Phases Farm, said that he believes it will definitely help boost employment.

"I think it'll help employment, the amount of jobs it'll create year-round..." Roberts said.

The World Equestrian Center, a partner with this project, has already built a facility in Ohio, and is now expanding to Florida.

Amenities will include a 300-home residential community, horse farms, a hotel and event venues for 10,000 people.
