Gainesville home burglarized in Hamilton Heights neighborhood

A burglary was reported in a Hamilton Heights home Tuesday at 10:36 a.m.

Police received a 911 call from a 15-year-old girl who was in the home when the burglary occurred.

According to an Alachua County Sheriff's Office press release, the burglar took electronics and jewelry before leaving the home.

The girl said she was in bed and heard two thumping noises toward the back of the house. After hearing a loud crash, she got up to check out the noise. After entering the house, the suspect forced the girl into the bathroom, making her lie down in the bathtub, according to the press release.

Before taking the electronics and jewelry, the suspect looked through the house and asked where the money was, according to the press release.

According to the press release, the burglar is described as a black male, "possibly early 20s, about 6'02"-6'04" tall, slender, wearing a beanie cap, baggy khaki cargo pants, a camouflage jacket and black boots."

The burglar has not been located.
