The University of Florida Board of Trustees voted unanimously Friday morning to approve a plan that requires incoming students to show proof of health insurance. Students who apply for the fall 2014 semester will be required to have health insurance for enrollment, though students who enter UF before fall 2014 will be grandfathered into current requirements, which do not include health insurance.

Members of the Florida House and Senate introduced a new medical marijuana bill Wednesday. State Bill 1250, also called the Cathy Jordan Medical Cannabis Act, would legalize up to four ounces of marijuana for seriously ill people and their caregivers.
