After the Eye: A Story of Recovery Along Florida’s Forgotten Coast

Today marks the one-year anniversary of Hurricane Michael. The Category 5 storm is said to have been the most powerful storm to hit the Florida Panhandle in modern history. It left ruin in its wake – homes and buildings destroyed, people displaced and communities battered. One year later, the region continues to rebuild.

In this special, WUFT journalists explore cities and towns along Florida’s Forgotten Coast to document the struggles and recovery efforts — how the hurricane impacted the regional economy, education system and way of life.

"After the Eye" offers stories of hope as communities look toward the future.
