The Gainesville City Commission hosted a community dinner at the GRACE Marketplace Wednesday night to address homelessness and hunger in the city. More than just a meal, Commissioner Craig Carter and the other members of the community wanted to provide an opportunity to start a  dialogue with the residents they wouldn't normally get to have. "We hope to accomplish that the citizens of Gainesville understand that we're not just out here throwing money at something. We're actually coming out and investing our time, and spending some time at the GRACE Marketplace," Carter said.
