Saturday’s rainy weather did not stop Alive Church from hosting its inaugural “Eggolution” Easter egg hunt at the University of Florida’s Norman Field. The event was the first of its kind for the church and attracted hundreds of families.
"Eggolution" ran from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., with some families arriving as early as 9 a.m. The morning was full of egg hunts, games, face painting and cash prize raffles.
Gainesville resident Britany Beale brought her family to the event and said she was having a great time despite the rain.
“I like that I got eggs!” said Beale’s 5-year-old daughter, Sabrina.
Edwina Hurst, head of marketing and communications for Alive Church, said she was excited for the outcome of the event and was hoping everyone would have fun.
“Easter is the most important day for our church, and we want to provide for our community,” Hurst said.
