Days after Hurricane Irma, families are struggling to put food on the table.
Many remain without power and are low on food supply. As if resources weren’t scarce enough, schools are closed until Monday leaving students with one less option for nutrition.
The community of Archer is coming together to offer meals and donations to these families.
Archer Elementary School is offering free breakfast and lunch meals on Thursday and Friday. Children 18 and under eat for free and adults can pay $1.25 for breakfast and $3.25 for lunch.
Florida Senator Bill Nelson also passed by Archer to assist the Salvation Army in handing out meals to families that remain without power.
