High Springs is working to finalize a contract with its canoe post operator

The City of High Springs has taken on a partnership with Andersons Outdoor Adventures to run a canoe outpost that the city acquired in 2021.

The city in November purchased the outpost for $600,000.

Now, with only a couple of months before summer, High Springs has partnered with Andersons Outdoor Adventures to run the outpost that sits on the Santa Fe River.

City spokesperson Kevin Mangan said the partnership is designed to let experts run the outpost.

However, the partnership is not yet set in stone. City Parks and Recreation Director Damon Messina said High Springs and Outdoor Adventures ownership is currently working on finalizing a contract that should be completed within the next month.

The Canoe Outpost is currently open to the public, but with recent storms, the outpost boardwalk that leads to the river has been taken over by rising waters.
