What Wes Skiles taught Florida

Wes Skiles from High Springs was an internationally recognized underwater photographer and explorer. His death on Wednesday has shocked his friends and colleagues across the state. He was pronounced dead Wednesday afternoon after his body was found at the bottom of a reef off Palm Beach Coast while filming for National Geographic. In addition to freelance photography, Skiles also owned his own production company, Karst Productions and Karst Environmental Services. He will be remembered most for his influence in protecting Florida’s springs as he served as the education chair of the Florida Springs Task Force. Michael Gillespie spoke with retired wildlife ecologist from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Dale Crider, about how Skiles will be remembered.
