Education forum scheduled for Dec. 18 at Buchholz High School

The Florida Legislature's mandated teacher evaluation system is being addressed Tuesday at Buchholz High School auditorium from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

It requires school districts to give assessments for each course offered in a district. Local and state legislators as well as school board employees have been invited to the forum.

Teachers have complained they shouldn't be rated based on students they have not taught

Alachua County Education Association President Karen McCann says the meeting Tuesday is to educate and enlighten the community on how teachers are being evaluated and how these evaluations affect their children.

State Rep. Keith Perry will attend, too. He will listen to input ahead of this spring's legislative session in Tallahassee.
