Ball Corporation is closing its Gainesville plant by the end of this year and leaving 125 employees without work. Along with the Gainesville plant, 110 employees in Columbus, Ohio will see their plant shut down as well.

Ball Corporation says both plants will be closing by the end of this year, but McCarty says the customer will ultimately decide the plant's exact closing date.

McCarty says the company is encouraging the employees in Gainesville and Columbus to reapply with the company in different locations.
