The Alachua County Supervisor of Elections office is buzzing this morning with voters registering to take part in elections at the end of this month. Supervisor of Elections Pam Carpenter says it is the last day to register, but the elections office will accept applications all day.
The city of Gainesville At-Large 1 seat and District 1 seat are open. Carpenter says even if you have already registered, you should check to make sure all your information is accurate because of the residency restrictions on the district election.
Today is also the last day to register a party affiliation to vote in the Republican Presidential Preference Primary. All three elections will take place January 31st, and Carpenter says involving the primary race with the city election may bring more voters to the polls. Voters can check their information and find important forms at the Supervisor of Elections website.
