Campaign to end texting while driving

“Drive cell free”- a message Dr. Robert Okerblom of California is spreading while biking across the country to increase awareness against distracted driving. Okerblom lost his 19-year-old son last year in an accident where the driver was texting while driving. Okerblom says he especially wanted to hit the southern states where there is very little legislation on the issue.

“This is the route where there is the least amount of regulation governmentally of these issues. In Florida there are absolutely no restrictions, plus drivers can text and haul around our children and other state are very similar to that,” he says.

Okerblom will be pedaling his way into Gainesville April 26 as he approaches the final leg of his 3-thousand mile biking campaign.
