With the worst of flu season yet to come, students are lining up for free vaccines at the University of Florida's Student Health Care Center (SHCC).
Several students claim that they have never experienced a sever case of the flu, but they feel it is important to take the extra precaution to combat potential illness.
Arsalan Gohar, a first-year graduate student at UF, said getting the flu shot now could save valuable time later.
"If you don't get flu shots, you'll get sick, and most of your valuable time will be lost, sick at home. You miss classes, you miss other important stuff. It's better to take the shots and better manage your time," Gohar said.
Catherine Seemann, the marketing coordinator at the SHCC, is concerned for university students and the rest of the community, as well. She said the vaccinations prevent students from infecting those around them.
"The age group that we primarily serve - college students - typically are very healthy. "We are also concerned about the community people that are very young, very old, people with chronic illnesses. Our age group may pass the illness along to other people and they may be very negatively affected," she said.
