A 3 week long burn ban for Alachua County has now been lifted. The board of County Commissioners voted to end the ban today after reviewing the current wildland fire conditions and area weather forecast. WUFT-FM’s Steven Gallo spoke with Alachua County Spokesman, Mark Sexton who says the burn ban lift comes just in time for the approaching holiday weekend, allowing for Fourth of July fireworks in the county. However, Sexton says it’s important to understand why the ban was in put in place.
