Fifty active wildfires are creating a smokey haze across the state. Smoke from the fires on the east coast settled in as the wind blew in from the east. North Florida Wildlife Mitigation Specialist, Ludie Bond, says any amount of rain will help the fires. Bond says that all fire departments are busy trying to contain and put out fires. Fire in Levy County broke containment lines and winds shifted from east to west causing more low lying smoke in our area. Bond says rain would help, but lightning that often comes with storms would be dangerous.
