SeaWorld announces Spring 2023 attraction ‘Pipeline’
SeaWorld shared details on the attraction it plans to open next spring. The ride is titled ‘Pipeline’ and is themed around surfing.
The ride is designed to replicate the surfing experience. Not only do riders stand on the vehicle, but the ‘seats’ bob up and down like a buoy.
This is the first rollercoaster to use that technology, which is patented by the ride’s manufacturer, Bolliger & Mabillard. Theme park vlogger Tim Tracker says he is excited to try out this new surf coaster.
“You control the seats,” Tracker said. “You as a rider go up and down, and you can control your ride based on what you do with your legs. And that sounds amazing, I can’t wait to try that out.”
Building something so complex does not come without challenges. Hurricane Ian crossed right through the construction site. However, SeaWorld’s Vice President of Design & Engineering Clint Brinker says the storm did not cause too many problems.
“Our teams working out here on the construction site did a wonderful job. They buttoned everything up. We stopped construction ahead of the storm. Kept everyone safe at home. Basically, other than having some water, it really has not held us back at all in terms of construction,” Brinker said.
Once construction is complete, Tracker plans to vlog about the experience. He knows from raising his two-year-old son that it can be just as fun to watch, even if you’re not ready to ride.
Pipeline will take its first riders in the spring of 2023.
