Founding member of the University of Florida's Board of Trustees Carlos Alfonso will withdraw his application for a third term on the board. This decision comes after learning Governor Rick Scott would not be reappointing Alfonso. Faculty Senate Chair Scott Nygren says the decision does not reflect Alfonso’s abilities, but rather the Governor’s feeling about term limits.

Alfonso has served on the Board of Trustees since it was formed in 2001. Nygren says Alfonso has a great deal of respect and appreciation from all members of the board.
