Recent budget cuts in education have led the Marion County School Board to consider enacting a 4-day school week for its students. Florida received three billion dollars in federal stimulus tax money for education, but Marion County Schools estimates the district must still shave off 19 million dollars from their budget next year. WUFT-FM’s Shannon McCarthy spoke with Marion County Public Schools spokesman Kevin Christian, who says this plan would not be in violation of any educational guidelines.
