Eastside High School math team in national final round

A team of Eastside High School students is in New York City for the final round of a national math competition. Groups from across the nation were given a real-life problem and the teams with the best solutions are now competing to win Moody’s Mega Math Challenge. Eastside High School Principal Jeff Charbonnet says the school’s IB program helped to prepare the students for the competition.

“Part of our focus in the IB program is to develop students who are keen thinkers, careful problem solvers, and know how to apply their skills in an interdisciplinary fashion to approach real world problems,” he says.

The five-member team would split a scholarship prize up to 20-thousand dollars, depending on how they finish.
