Nearly 14 million Floridians, or 73% of the state's population, are vaccinated, according to the weekly COVID-19 situation report from the Florida Department of Health. These data summarize Florida residents ages 12 and older who have completed all required doses of a COVID-19 vaccine approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention COVID-19 data tracker, community transmission is calculated using two indicators: the rate of new cases and the percentage of positive viral diagnostic tests, or NAATs, in the last seven days. In general, an increase in case rates correlate with substantial to high rates of community transmission. The latest data, published on Oct. 24, show that Lafayette, Hamilton and Volusia counties have the highest levels of transmission in the state with more than 100 new cases per 100,000 people in the last seven days.
