No. 22 Florida will be without quarterback Luke Del Rio and three more starters against South Carolina on Saturday.
Coach Jim McElwain said Monday that Del Rio will miss the game — and maybe the rest of the season — with a right shoulder injury. Del Rio played through the pain in a 31-10 loss at Arkansas on Saturday, but McElwain acknowledged Monday that he should have pulled Del Rio at halftime because of the injury. Purdue transfer Austin Appleby likely will make his third start of the season. The Gators (6-2, 4-2 Southeastern Conference) also will be without center Cam Dillard (knee) and linebackers Jarrad Davis (ankle) and Alex Anzalone (arm). Dillard and Anzalone are out for the season. Del Rio has completed 56.7 percent of his passes for 1,358 yards, with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions. He has six interceptions in the last three games.
