Peaceful Paths, a non-profit organization in Gainesville, is collecting school supplies for families in need in its fifth annual back-to-school drive.
Peaceful Paths provides assistance for families that have experienced domestic abuse.
"The families that we work with are trying to overcome a lot of obstacles and barriers," said John Thomas, the director of community giving and marketing. "What we're trying to do is make sure back to school isn't one of those barriers for them and their kids."
Each student receives a backpack filled with school supplies like paper and pencils from the organization.
The back-to-school drive ends Friday, but Peaceful Paths now has a $500 fundraising goal.
Donations can be made through Peaceful Paths' website with a note that it is for the back-to-school drive.
