WUFT News has won eight regional Radio Television Digital News Association Murrow Awards, including overall excellence and best website.
The Murrow Awards, named for legendary newscaster Edward R. Murrow, recognize outstanding achievements in electronic journalism and honor “the spirit of excellence that Edward R. Murrow made a standard for the broadcast news profession.” RTDNA has been bestowing the awards since 1971, and this is the highest number of concurrent awards received by WUFT.
The first place winners include:

- Audio Feature Reporting: Another Pavarotti in the Making
- Audio Reporting: Hard News – The Execution of Manuel Valle
- Audio News Documentary: Environmental Education Through Song
- Audio News Cast – Front Page Edition of All Things Considered
- Audio Sports Reporting – Small Town, Big Football Dreams

WUFT won the recognition in the small market competition for Region 13, which encompasses Florida, Georgia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. The winners will move on to the national competition in June.
