The Harn is celebrating its 25th anniversary with an exhibit, opening Friday, that will encourage visitors to discuss the works across time periods and cultures. The exhibit will run through Jan. 3.

President Obama's proposal of two free years of tuition at a community college has appealed to local high school students. Quinten Eyman, coordinator of recruitment at Santa Fe College, said students have a better chance of standing out when they’re at a school with fewer than students than large universities.

The Gainesville Regional Transit system has made changes to its bus routes and many residents are not happy. RTS has received increases in complaints since the changes, particularly for Route 20, which has had four new buses added to it after Route 21 was eliminated.

The Matheson History Museum opened its new exhibit, “Saving the Sunshine State: Women Leaders in the 20th Century,” featuring artifacts and rare photos from Mary McLeod Bethune, Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Marjorie Harris Carr, Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings, May Mann Jennings and Zora Neale Hurston. The exhibit opened yesterday and runs until Oct. 31.
