Qualifying for Gainesville elections ends today

With Gainesville city elections around the corner, the deadline for candidates to qualify is today. Alachua County Supervisor of Elections Pam Carpenter says there are 8 candidates who qualify for the Gainesville At-Large 1 commission seat and two candidates for the District 1 commission seat.

Thomas Hawkins will be leaving the At-Large seat and Scherwin Henry will leave the District 1 seat.  The deadline to qualify for both commission seats is noon today.

Pizza and Parrot Lovers Come Together

Parrots and Pizza, a local group that meets monthly at Napolatano’s Restaurant in Gainesville, works closely with the Open Wings Rescue and Sanctuary in a joint effort to get attendees of the event to adopt parrots in need of new homes.
