Peter Gonzalez, UF CJC Class of 2006

As president and founding father of Sigma Pi, Zeta Zeta at the University of Florida and a member of Florida Blue Key, Peter Gonzalez’s time in the Swamp flew by when he was earning his bachelor’s degree in telecommunications at the College of Journalism and Communications.

“What moves the needle?” is a question Gonzalez often asked himself after graduating in 2006 and throughout his rich, diverse career.

Whether as a segment host for NBC Universal or founder of an award-winning digital media company, there are certain values that drives his life’s work.

Born in Miami to Cuban parents, Gonzalez grew up impassioned to tell stories. His time “inside the walls of Weimer” tailored this pursuit.

Good storytelling means embracing new experiences, Gonzalez said, recalling what professor Bridget Grogan taught him when he was learning to produce content.

Championing this lesson, Gonzalez became an entrepreneur, founding Bold Man and the Sea Media, a company specializing in cutting-edge video production, social media and photography ranging in international travel, dining and more.

He said he couldn’t be more thankful for all of the wonderful experiences he has gained and how they have shaped him into the family man and company founder he is today.

“It’s always been about storytelling,” Gonzalez said, “and being the mouthpiece of the community.”
