Queen Elizabeth II, whose seven decades on the throne of the United Kingdom was a longer reign than any other British monarch, has died at the age of 96.

In Windsor, the Zucchini Festival and the volunteer fire department are almost synonymous. The festival started out as a silly fundraiser for Windsor's fire department and May will mark the 35th time zucchinis take over the town.

Once developed hubs for the citrus industry, these two communities now bear little resemblance to the agricultural centers they were in the mid-19th century. Instead, today they boast small-town values and fellowship as well as sleepy oak-canopied dirt roads.
