A 7-month-old boy drowned in bathtub in Clay County on Tuesday when his mother fell asleep in the tub with him.

Jennifer Wroubel was bathing her son, Dylan, about 7:15 p.m., and when he started to cry, his mother got into the bathtub with him, according to a news release from Clay County Sheriff’s Office media spokeswoman Mary Justino.

Wroubel started to play with her son and bathe him for about 15 minutes before falling asleep. When she awoke, her son was floating in the water, the release said.

She took her son out of the bathtub, called 911 and then performed chest compressions.

Clay County Fire Rescue responded and took the boy to St. Vincent’s Medical Center Clay County, where he was pronounced dead at 9:11 p.m.

The release lists the boy's home as being on Chipmunk Road in Middleburg, Florida, but it doesn’t specify whether that’s where the incident took place. Officials with the sheriff’s office didn’t immediately return WUFT’s request for comment.

No trauma was observed on the boy, according to the release.

The body was taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, and the Florida Department of Children and Families is investigating.
