Buchholz High School senior Beverly Ge has been named a finalist in the prestigious Intel Science Talent Search (Intel STS).
Ge is among 40 U.S. high school seniors recognized as finalists in the Intel STS, the nation’s oldest and most prestigious pre-college science and math competition.
Ge’s qualifying paper is called ‘Novel Chromogenic Vapor Sensors Enabled by Shape Memory Polymers.’ To qualify for the competition, she submitted an 18-page research paper, a series of essays, transcripts and recommendation letters.
As a finalist, Ge will go on an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington D.C., where her research will go through a comprehensive judging process and displayed to the public at the National Geographic Society. The competition will be held in March and will put Ge in the running for more than $1 million in additional awards.
