Gainesville residents will have one more opportunity to vote for the District 2 seat when both candidates face each other in a runoff election April 12th. Incumbent Lauren Poe and businessman Todd Chase were not able to take the 50% plus one requirement for a winner. City Commissioner and incumbent Lauren Poe says if re-elected, he wants to make Gainesville more diverse. Poe had 35.10% of the vote, Chase had 31.38%.
4-H, a group of more than 100 public universities throughout the nation that gives young people the opportunity to learn through hands-on experiences, participated in a nation-wide program, called Citizen Washington Focus, sending youth to the inauguration.
