Unvarnished: When Gainesville Wasn’t So LGBT-Friendly

Karen Johnson suppressed her sexual orientation into her 30s, a period in her life that intersected with her time in Gainesville city government when the city commission wasn’t so accepting as it is today.

She shared her story at Guts & Glory GNV’s recent “Coming Out” show in October and more recently in WUFT’s radio booth for Unvarnished.
