The city of Gainesville has helped one local family achieve their longtime dream of getting a new home.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday at Debra Warren’s new residence courtesy of the city’s House Replacement Program, which offers families in need the opportunity to demolish and rebuild their homes when they are considered beyond rehabilitation. City staff determined Warren’s previous home met those conditions and worked with her for the last five years to get her to the day when construction began.
She is the latest homeowner to benefit from this program, which is paid for through federal and state housing funds. The project cost just under $100,000.
